Terms of Service
1. Service Description
Etyde is a music practice platform that connects teachers and students. Teachers can create lessons, assign structured practice plans, manage repertoire, set goals, and track student progress. Students can practice with built-in tools including a metronome, tuner, sheet music viewer, and recording capabilities, and track their own progress over time.
2. Early Access
Etyde is currently available free of charge during the early access period. We may introduce pricing in the future. If pricing is introduced, existing users will be notified in advance via email and given reasonable time to decide whether to continue using the service. No charges will be applied without your explicit consent.
3. Account Responsibilities
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account, including a valid email address.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. If you use password authentication, choose a strong password and do not share it.
- If you are a teacher inviting students who are minors, you are responsible for ensuring appropriate parental consent has been obtained.
- You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
4. Acceptable Use
When using Etyde, you agree not to:
- Upload content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others.
- Upload copyrighted sheet music or audio recordings without appropriate rights or licenses. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and use any music files on the platform.
- Use the messaging system to send spam, harassment, or inappropriate content.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data.
- Interfere with the operation of the platform or its infrastructure.
5. Intellectual Property
- Your content: You retain full ownership of all content you upload to Etyde, including sheet music, recordings, practice notes, lesson content, and messages. By uploading content, you grant Etyde a limited license to store, process, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you and your connected teachers or students.
- Platform code: The Etyde platform, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Etyde. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the platform.
6. Service Availability
We strive to keep Etyde available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We do not offer a Service Level Agreement (SLA) during the early access period.
7. Termination
- By you: You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion permanently removes all your data from our servers.
- By us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly in cases of abusive behavior, illegal content uploads, or unauthorized access attempts. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before termination except in cases requiring immediate action.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Etyde is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of practice records, or interruption of service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the service (which is zero during the free early access period).
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Etyde operates. Any disputes arising from these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through an in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you may delete your account before the effective date.
